Monroe the Man for Hawks

The Perry Lakes “ID Athletic” Hawks have signed exciting 6’7 forward Tyler Monroe from the University of Azuzu Pacific.  The energetic Monroe is well accustomed to Australian Basketball after starring in the NSW Waratah League in 2017 finishing as the league MVP after averaging just over 26 points and 16 rebounds.

“Tyler is a fantastic piece to the puzzle for us in 2018, we wanted a high motor, hard working big man who would work next to our center Brian Carlwell. We also wanted a player who had been in Australia and would adapt to the physicality of the league”, said Head Coach Matt Parsons. “My Assistant Conrad Francis spent some time with the Illawarra Hawks in the off season and Monroe was recommended to us by their coaching staff. During our time in Malaysia with the SBL Select team, we sat down and spent time watching film and decided together that Tyler would be a key piece to our puzzle”

Monroe is looking forward to the next chapter in his career. “I am very excited to have joined the Hawks Association, I have been here just over a month and I have already come to love the environment, coaching staff and my teammates. As a guy who is extremely focused on my development both as a man and a player I believe I have arrived in the best environment for my situation. Coach Parsons is already pushing me to be better everyday” the Big Man Stated. “I cant express my gratitude towards the program enough, I know our interests align and they really do care about their people”.

Tyler will be able to show what he can do on the court on March 17th when the Hawks face the Magic in the season opener at the Hawks Nest. The Ladyhawks tip off at 6pm and the Men at 8pm.
