State Champs Wrap Week 2

This past weekend saw Hawks nominate 8 teams in the U13 BWA State Championships on what was a very warm weekend at the Bendat Basketball Centre.

We had 4 teams in the U13 Girls – our U13 White team competed in the Championship division and came out with two wins and two losses.

Both our Hawks Silver and Hawks Blue teams were in Division 2, our blue team with a 3-1 winning record  and the Hawks Silver team a 4-0 record before playing off in the semis, only to lose to Stirling who progressed to the Grand Final. Our third team, Hawks Black came out with a 2-2 record.

The 4 girls’ teams showed we have a great pool of players to form our teams for WABL 2018.

Our boys’ teams were also spread across three divisions – Hawks White in the Championship, Hawks Blue & Silver in Division 2 and Hawks Black in Division 3. Hawks White had some hard games over the weekend with a 1-3 record and was in the same pool as the eventual Champions in Willetton 1.

The division 2 teams Silver & Blue, saw Hawks Blue go through undefeated to the Grand final, but came up short against Stirling Senators 1 in the Grand Final. The Silver team, although having 3 wins and a draw, didn’t qualify for finals. Hawks Black had a 2-2 record over the weekend.

Just like the girls, our boys’ teams also showed they will be competitive in WABL in 2018.

Thanks to our coaches Peter, Will, Bren, Jade, Tabb, Jacqui, Trent & Kennedy and to our eight managers who did a terrific job looking after their team’s.

Enjoy the holiday break and we will see you all on the 1st February 2018 for our WABL trials.
