Junior Development is an important aspect of the Perry Lakes Hawks Basketball Association (PLHBA). The  PLHBA offers a range of options designed to improve and develop fundamental skills in our players. The Hawks also work  to prepare players for State Representative Programs and higher level programs that are offered by BWA.

U8 Skills Sessions

These sessions are open to players who are 7 years of age and not turning 8 until after 30th June 2024(year 2)and are held each Tuesday between 4.15pm and 6.15pm (2 time slots). They comprise a 50 minute time slot made up of skills & drills , supervised by our NBL1 players and coaches from the Junior Clubs, concluding with a short game. Any player interested needs to register with a Junior Club and the Junior Club will place the player in a team. For more information click here.

Junior Competition

Our junior competition takes place from late-March through to mid-September for U10 to U18’s.

To play in this competition you must first REGISTER with one of our 6 Junior Clubs . Their details can be found by clicking here.  You will need to contact the relevant Junior Club to register and the Club will then place you in a team. All Junior Clubs will be opening their player registrations up the last week January/first week of February to returning members and once these players have registered, registration is open to new members. Please check the individual club websites for more information regarding registration. This competition is very popular and any spare places in teams are filled quickly.

School Competition

The PLHBA  runs a special schools competition for 5-6 weeks in Term 4 each year.

WABL

The Western Australian Basketball League is a state-wide premier junior competition which develops players, coaches and officials. The Western Australian Basketball League (WABL) is WA’s premier junior basketball competition catering for players in the following age groups: U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 and Open Age (Division 1). The Hawks hold trials for these representative teams in October each year, as phase 1 and the final selection late January each year. For more information click here.

Basketball WA

Basketball WA (BWA) run a series of special clinics over each school holiday period. In addition to this BWA run development and high performance programs including Hot Shots, Future Development Program, the State Performance Program, U14/15 Southern Cross Challenge Tours and the U16, U18 and U20 State Teams program.
