Hawks Proudly Represented at Every Level During Boomers Visit
The Australian Boomers’ visit to Perth provided an unforgettable experience for the Perry Lakes Hawks, with players and coaches from across the club proudly involved in a variety of roles throughout the event.
Our Aussie Hoopers were given the incredible honour of forming the Guard of Honour as the Boomers took to the court, creating a lasting memory as they welcomed Australia’s national team. The excitement continued at halftime, when our young Hawks took centre stage to showcase their basketball skills in front of a packed crowd, representing the club with confidence, enthusiasm and pride.
The night was made even more special with the inclusion of former Hawks junior Alex Condon in the Boomers squad. Seeing a Perry Lakes product wearing the green and gold was a proud moment for everyone connected to the club and a powerful reminder to our young players that hard work, dedication and perseverance can lead to opportunities at the very highest level.
The Hawks’ involvement extended well beyond the court. Aussie Hoops Lead Coach and NBL1 Men’s Captain AJ Nobensi, together with NBL1 Men’s Head Coach Ben Peterson, were invited to work behind the scenes as part of the Boomers’ staff for the event and lead up. It was a unique opportunity to contribute while learning within Australia’s elite basketball environment and to bring valuable experiences back to the Hawks.
A special thank you also goes to our fill-in Aussie Hoops coaches, Jackson Mews and Kyle Marshall, who generously stepped in to lead our young players on the night. Their willingness to volunteer their time ensured our Aussie Hoopers could enjoy this incredible experience while our regular coaches fulfilled their roles with the Boomers. Their support is a wonderful reflection of the team-first culture that exists throughout our club.
The breadth of Hawks involvement throughout the event highlighted the strength of our club. From our youngest Aussie Hoopers taking their first steps in the game, to coaches gaining valuable experience within the national program, and former juniors representing Australia on the international stage, the Boomers’ visit showcased what can be achieved through commitment, opportunity and a supportive basketball community.

Moments like these inspire our young players, support the growth of our coaches and highlight the strength of the Hawks community. We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented our club and the positive example they set for the next generation of Hawks.
