WEEK 5 RECAP – U11 & U15 GIRLS BATTLE THE HEAT TO CLOSE OUT STATE CHAMPS

The final weekend of the 2025 State Championships arrived with not only strong competition, but also extreme heat across the metro area. With Bendat pushing high temperatures throughout Saturday and Sunday, the BWA Heat Policy came into effect, resulting in several games being delayed, adjusted, or cancelled across the venue. Despite the challenging conditions, our U11 and U15 Girls showed resilience, composure and genuine Hawks spirit all weekend.

The U11 Girls fought hard in tough, warm conditions. Division 4 opened with a dominant 24–2 win, while Division 3 secured a strong 19–12 victory on Sunday. Division 2 pushed through one of the most difficult schedules of the weekend, battling quality opponents and the heat in a series of competitive matchups.

The standout of the weekend was our U15 Girls Division 2, who came out firing with three straight wins—33–17, 29–12 and 37–11—before advancing to the Semi Finals, where they fell to Willetton in a tight contest. Even with the rising temperatures and the disruption of the heat policy, the team rallied again on Sunday to finish the weekend 5–1.

The U15 Girls Division 3 group delivered gritty performances, including a narrow two-point loss, a 0–0 draw in a heat-affected game, and a convincing 26–8 win to close the weekend. The U15 Girls Division 4 squad mirrored that resilience, opening with a strong 14–9 win and a dominant 37–8 performance before finishing Day 2 with a 0–0 draw under heat-policy conditions.

It was a challenging but proud final weekend—our players stayed focused, supported each other and competed with heart, despite the extreme temperatures and disruptions.

A huge thank you to our coaches, officials, volunteers and the incredible Hawks family who packed the stadiums and supported our teams from start to finish.
