Farewell to Emma Clarke

Emma Clarke officially departed Perth this week and so doing left the Lady Hawks SBL team to commence a scholarship in Boulder with the University of Colorado. The move to Colorado will see Emma play basketball for the ‘buffaloes’ in the highly competitive Division One, Pac 12 conference, in addition to commencing a four-year undergraduate study in Neuroscience and Psychology.

Emma was asked to leave Perth early by the University of Colorado so that she could attend summer school and get to know her new coaching staff and team mates ahead of a scheduled preseason tour of Italy in August. Since arriving Emma has settled into dormitory life quickly and is getting to know the four additional freshman who have joined the basketball program this year.

Emma would like to extend a huge thanks to the many people at the Perry Lakes Hawks who have assisted her to realise a goal to further develop her basketball within the American Collegiate system.  Finally she would like to wish the Lady Hawks and their coach long time mentor Deanna Smith all the best for the business end of their season.

Emma is continuing her work with the 2018 FIBA Under-18’s Women’s squad in preparation for the Asian Championships. The squad will assemble at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra from August 6-8 as they set their sights on qualifying through the FIBA event in Bengaluru, India between October 28- November 3.

We wish Emma the best of luck and look forward to watching her journey unfold!
