Hawks Semi Final Preview

Our NBL1 West Women head into the Semi Final Thursday night against the Perth Redbacks. The winner will move into the Preliminary Final against the undefeated Cockburn Cougars whilst the season is over for the the loser. The Hawks and Redbacks have met twice this season with the Hawks going down both times by the slimmest of margins . Both teams have won 3 of their last 5 games. The stage is set for a fantastic game of basketball.

Coach Mansfield reflected on Saturday’s win and the road ahead, “It was a great win over Tigers last Saturday night.  They have a world class player in Aokuso and in what was potentially Desi Kelley’s last game they were highly motived.  Jayda Clark drove our offence in the first half, but in the second half we pulled away behind some consistent defensive execution – scout, pick and roll and post traps on Aokuso.

We are excited for the challenge of Redbacks this Thursday night, I think they have had a tremendous season, play very hard and Coach Rendulic has done a fantastic job.  Both regular season match-ups they beat us in highly competitive games,  this time we will be aiming to protect possession and rebound at a high level which will give us an opportunity to find some advantages in other areas.

I’m very proud of our team and the resilience they have shown throughout the entire season, I think you’ll see another example of how this team  plays for each other and represents Hawks the right way.  Let’s get as many fans out as possible to support the girls and enjoy a great game of basketball”.
