As a coach, you are afforded an opportunity to truly impact a person’s life.

Coaches play a vital role in the wellbeing of an athlete as they are the primary point of contact and influence within the sporting environment. Think of them as influencers – their messaging is listened to, their information taken on board, their directions followed, or not.

It is imperative that we help coaches’ use these opportunities to empower, motivate and support athletes.

Through the AW Program, coaches have the opportunity to join our group educational coach’s workshops. These online sessions are designed to develop your own self-awareness and strengthen your ability to support your athletes as they navigate the ups and downs of the WABL season. They also provide you with an opportunity to ask specific advice as the season progresses.

Some examples of the educational topics covered and discussed, but not limited to, are:

  • Role of the coach
    • How to establish healthy, functional relationships with athletes
    • How to communicate with parents
    • Mental Health Literacy
    • Developing your coaching mind-set

These sessions are open to all coaches of all age groups but are completely optional.
