Mansfield steps down as Head Coach
After a very successful season reaching the Preliminary finals and 4 years at the Hawks, Coach Craig Mansfield has decided to step down from the Head Coaching position. Craig has been an integral part of the club, leading the team with dedication, professionalism, and passion both on and off the court.
Mansfield has nothing but fond memories of his time at the Hawks. “I am so grateful for my four seasons at Hawks and during this time learned so much and have had so many valued experiences. When I joined Perry Lakes in late 2021 it appealed to me as an opportunity to be part of a club that had strong values, strong culture and prioritised a pathway for its athletes; and throughout my time and in a variety of situations this always proven true.
To all the staff, board members, volunteers, sponsors, coaches, and athletes I have appreciated your support as we worked to continue the club’s history of success. I will always be thankful for your contributions, and I am also proud of the progress we made together. The current women’s NBL1 program has several outstanding and talented players and coaches that I’m sure can move the program forward for ongoing and potentially greater success.
There are so many people at Hawks who I need to thank, but a special mention here to Jenny, Peter and Annette who have been instrumental for my journey at Hawks. Peter as President when I was first given the opportunity to join Hawks, Jenny as NBL1 Director who along with Annette have provided endless hours of work and support to make the NBL1 programs possible. THANK YOU! The decision not to continue was not made lightly and was considered in the broader context of life and family as well as basketball.
Perry Lakes Hawks will always have my appreciation and respect; I wish them well moving forward”.
Hawks GM Jenny Purser said : “Craig has been easy to work with over the past 4 years , showing professionalism, respect, dedication, knowledge and his passion for basketball cannot be underestimated. In his first couple of years with Hawks, Craig was know for his “quirky jumpers” which we gradually ‘toned down’ but they were a bit of fun. We wish Craig all the best wherever life takes him and to Courtney & Kasey, thank you for allowing Craig the time out of family life, to coach our Women’s team”.
Thank you Craig!
